The great wines
of Valpolicella.

AmaroneDOCG

Red · Dried grape method

The king of Valpolicella. Made from dried Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella grapes for 90-120 days. A full-bodied wine with notes of cherry, dark chocolate, tobacco and spices. Minimum ageing of 2 years, up to over 20 for Riserva. Ideal with braised meats, game and aged cheeses.

RipassoDOC

Red · Re-fermentation

The "son" of Amarone: made by re-fermenting Valpolicella on the still-fresh Amarone grape skins, producing a wine more structured and rich than the classic. More affordable than Amarone, but with a decisive character. Notes of cherry, plum, vanilla and light spice. Perfect with pasta al ragù, cured meats and red meat.

ReciotoDOCG

Sweet red · Dried grape method

The original wine: sweet, velvety, with a natural residual sweetness. Produced using the same method as Amarone but with fermentation halted. Notes of sour cherry, blackberry, chocolate and jam. Ideal as a meditation wine or paired with chocolate desserts and red fruit tarts.

ValpolicellaDOC

Red · Fresh and easy-drinking

The everyday wine of Valpolicella: light, fruity, with notes of fresh cherry and almond. Excellent young, to be enjoyed cool at 16°C. The Valpolicella Classico Superiore, with at least 1 year of ageing, has more structure and complexity. Ideal pairing: pasta with tomato sauce, pizza, mixed cured meats and starters.

Wine shop Agriturismo Igino - direct sales of Valpolicella wines

In-house wine shop

Direct sales · Local wine · Since 1933

The wine we sell has a history of ninety years. Our grandfather Igino Antolini was the tenth founding member of the Cantina Valpolicella di Negrar in 1933 - and it is after him that the agriturismo takes its name. Today we still bring the grapes from our vineyards to the Cantina, and the wines that come out of it are available directly in our wine shop: Amarone DOCG, Ripasso DOC and Recioto DOCG at cellar prices. A circle that closes across three generations, among the same rows of vines as always.

  • Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG - flagship wine
  • Valpolicella Ripasso DOC - our guests' favourite
  • Recioto della Valpolicella DOCG - sweet dessert wine
  • Direct purchase at cellar prices · Cantina Valpolicella Negrar since 1933
  • Bottles may be taken to the shared kitchen in the evening

Wine of the territory.

These are the wineries we recommend to our guests - not the biggest or the most famous, but the ones where you still meet the producer, walk among the vines and taste an Amarone that tells the story of a single family. Booking always recommended.

Igino Antolini · 10th founding member · 1933

The Cantina Valpolicella di Negrar has always been part of our family history. Our grandfather Igino Antolini was the tenth founding member when the cooperative was established in 1933 - and it is after him that the agriturismo takes its name. Today, as then, we bring the grapes from our vineyards directly to the Cantina, which processes and transforms them into the wines you find in our wine shop. A circle that closes across three generations, among the same rows of vines.

Alessandro Boni

Alessandro Boni

Negrar di Valpolicella · Via Crosara 17
~15 min a piedi Dal 1960 Bottiglia numerata

One of the most beautiful stories of artisan Valpolicella: grandfather Luigi founded the winery in 1960, his son Alessandro grew it and gave it his name, and today it is his daughter Cristina and her husband Alberto who continue this art. A single family-owned vineyard in Negrar, 190 metres above sea level, in the heart of the Valpolicella Classica. The bottles are numbered and labelled by hand - small batches, obsessive attention to detail, wines that tell three generations of work.

Cavarena

Cavarena

Mazzurega · Fumane di Valpolicella
~20 min in auto Naturale 8.000 bottiglie/anno

To reach it you drive ten hairpin bends from Fumane, at 450 metres above sea level - and it is absolutely worth it. Sergio Rama, an agronomist who travelled the world before returning to the family land, founded Cavarena in 2019 on 3.5 hectares of vines and olive trees on a high hillside. He produces 8,000 bottles a year in 5 labels, all from 9 native varieties including the rare Turchetta, Oseletta and Spigamonti. Natural viticulture, natural fertilisers, rainwater collection, dry-stone walls. The most authentic and quiet wine of Valpolicella.

Vogadori

Vogadori

Negrar di Valpolicella · Via Vigolo 16

A direct and authentic approach that is rarely found in larger wineries.

Frequently asked questions.

Where to taste Amarone in Valpolicella?

The wineries of the Valpolicella Classica are concentrated in the area between Negrar, Fumane, Sant'Ambrogio and Marano. Among the most visited: Allegrini (Fumane), Masi (Gargagnago), Bertani (Grezzana), Tedeschi (Pedemonte), Zenato (Bardolino) and dozens of artisan wineries open by appointment. From Agriturismo Igino they can be reached in 5-20 minutes. At check-in we provide updated maps and recommend the wineries best suited to each guest's preferences.

How much does an Amarone tasting cost?

The average cost of a winery tasting in Valpolicella ranges from €15 to €35 per person, depending on the winery and the number of wines included. Some wineries offer free tasting with a minimum purchase. Tastings with food pairings (cured meats, cheeses, local bread) cost more, generally between €25 and €50 per person. At many wineries the cost of the tasting can be deducted from the purchase of bottles.

Do you need to book a winery visit?

Yes, almost all wineries in the Valpolicella require booking, especially at weekends and in high season (May-October). Some also accept walk-in visits during the week, but this is not guaranteed. It is recommended to book at least 2-3 days in advance, contacting the winery directly by phone or email. We at Agriturismo Igino are happy to help you organise your visit before your arrival or at check-in.

What is the difference between Amarone and Ripasso?

Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG is the flagship wine: it is produced by drying the grapes for 90-120 days, resulting in a wine of great concentration, with high alcohol content (14-17%) and long ageing. Valpolicella Ripasso DOC is instead made by re-fermenting the Valpolicella on the fresh grape skins of the Amarone: it is more structured than classic Valpolicella but less powerful than Amarone. The Ripasso is often called the "little Amarone": more affordable but with a decisive character.

Can you buy wine directly from the wineries in Valpolicella?

Yes, almost all wineries in the Valpolicella sell their wines directly, often at prices lower than large retail stores. Agriturismo Igino has an in-house wine shop where guests can purchase Amarone, Ripasso and Recioto directly from the estate. For external wineries, we recommend checking prices in advance: generally a good-quality Amarone starts from €20-30, up to over €100 for great-vintage Riservas.

When is the best season to visit the wineries in Valpolicella?

The Valpolicella wineries are open all year, but the best periods for a visit are spring (April-June), when the vineyards begin to bud, and autumn (September-November), during the harvest. In September-October you can witness the grape picking and the first stages of winemaking - a unique experience. In summer the wineries are very busy: we recommend booking in advance and visiting them early in the morning.
